Compact Handheld Flame Weeder
A Compact Handheld Flame Weeder against a white background

A Compact Handheld Flame Weeder-also known as a weed torch-is a relatively lightweight and inexpensive tool used primarily for spot weeding in gardens (between rows and between plants in the row), along fences/borders, around trees/shrubs, on driveways, sidewalks, walkways, etc. Other uses include lighting charcoal, burning leaves in fall, melting ice/snow in winter. The weeder typically measures around 32 inches long and is fueled by a standard 14 oz. propane tank that attaches just in front of its handle. Ignition is either by flint igniter at the torch end or electronic trigger on the handle with flame size and intensity regulated via a knob next to the propane tank. (Available under such brand names as Ausail, BlueFire, Flame King, Houseables, Ignighter, JJGeorge, Koman, Mini Dragon, Ninja, and Sievert)
