High-Leg-Amputee Bicycle
High-Leg-Amputee Bicycle

Compared to standard crutch systems or prosthetic devices, the lightweight (15 pounds) High-Leg-Amputee Bicycle allows one with a single-leg amputation not only to travel significant distances at substantial speeds, but also to stand for long periods of time and not become tired or sore. The bicycle is designed to function as a 'rolling leg' so that the user is able to rest his/her amputated side comfortably on the customized, adjustable seat, with the tail bone absorbing the weight. In addition to its unique frame and steering system, the bike comes with a stabilizing wheel attached to the rear wheel, which functions as both a 'kick-stand' and a training wheel while the user learns to ride and gain balance.
