Add-on Handles for Long-Handled Tools
Woman using an add-on handle on a snow shovel

Add-on Handles, which are affixed by bolts or clamps partway down the handle, maximize one's lifting ability and minimize the need to bend/stoop over as well as improve lateral control when using the tool. Marketed under such names as D-Grip, Back-Saver Grip, Back Buddy, and ProHandle, the attachments add an ergonomic advantage to any long-handled push-pull tool (e.g., mop, rake, broom, edger, paint roller extension, limb lopper) and lifting-chopping action tool (e.g., shovel, hoe, pitchfork).

Estimated Cost Cost range: $10-$30, depending on product

Limitations Limitations Addressed by Product: Back, Strength/endurance, Upper extremity
